Coroner ID’d Victim Killed in Hopland Car Accident on Highway 175 near Harrison Street as Francisco J. Tinajero
32-Year-Old Francisco J. Tinajero Killed, Ruben Tinajero Seriously Injured After Ford F-250 Pickup and Honda Civic Crashes in Hopland
Hopland, California (June 17, 2020) – 32-year-old Francisco J. Tinajero, of Ukiah, has been identified as the man who died following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 175, near Harrison Street in Hopland Monday morning, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The accident happened when a 1999 Ford F-250 pickup operated by 20-year-old Justin Jimenez eastbound on Highway 175 drifted onto the right shoulder and went out of control. Jimenez then crossed over into the westbound lane where he slammed into a 2002 Honda Civic driven by Francisco J. Tinajero westbound on the roadway at approximately 11:35 a.m. June 15.
Due to the impact, the pickup truck overturned and landed on its wheels.
Sadly, Francisco J. Tinajero was declared dead at the crash site. His passenger, 34-year-old Ruben Tinajero, sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Santa Rosa for medication.
Jimenez, a Willits resident, was also rushed to Santa Rosa for treatment of major injuries.
The fatal accident remains under an active investigation.
