Deadly Trinity County Car Crash on Highway 299

Trinity County, California – A fatal accident was reported by the California Highway Patrol that occurred in Highway 299 on Sunday morning.

On September 20, at around 10 am, the police reported an accident that happened just east of Burnt Ranch near Ironside Mountain.

One vehicle was found overturned in the Trinity River upon arrival by the CHP, however, the cause of the accident was not immediately known.

One person was killed in the accident but the identity was not revealed.

No other injuries were reported.

Due to the accident, the highway was closed for half an hour that allowed the crew to recover the vehicle from the river.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
