64-Year-Old Man Killed in Kern River Canyon Crash on Highway 178

Wofford Heights Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash with Kern County Sheriff’s Office Vehicle

Bakersfield, California – An accident that happened on Saturday morning on Highway 178 in the Kern River Canyon has killed one 64-year-old man from Wofford Heights.

On September 19, at around 11:06 am, the CHP officers were informed about the accident and responded to the scene at Highway 178 and Upper Richbar Picnic Area.

The man was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson east on Highway 178 when he laid down the motorcycle for unknown reasons and drifted into the path of the KCSO vehicle.

The emergency crew rushed to the accident scene but the victim died.

There was no other injury reported in the accident.

Following the accident, the mouth of the canyon was temporarily closed.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the CHP.
