Crash Leaves Bicyclist Dead on Highway 32 in Chico

1 Dies after Chico Bicycle Accident on Highway 32 ( Deer Creek Highway) near Ten Mile House Trail

Chico, California (May 9, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Friday night bicycle crash that killed one person in Chico.

As per the police logs, the crash transpired at around 8:44 p.m. on Highway 32, just east of Ten Mile House Trail. Highway 32 is also known as Deer Creek Highway.

A bicyclist collided with a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck on the roadway, said the police.

First responders arrived at the scene and found the bicyclist lying on the roadway. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the accident.

The involved vehicle was removed from the scene by a tow truck.

The crash remains under investigation.

“Far too many bicycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists. Sadly, when this occurs, motorcyclists are the ones who tend to suffer the vast majority of injuries”, according to Arin Khodaverdian, Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group. Under California’s rule of comparative negligence, a victim may be able to collect compensation for injuries and other damages even if you were partly at fault for the accident.
