Irvine, California (May 27, 2020) – Authorities have released the name of Irvine woman who died following a bicycle accident that happened in the area of Irvine just around 10:00 a.m. on May 25.

Police said 70-year-old Linda Smythe died at the scene after being struck by a gray Mercedes ML350 while cycling her bicycle at Portola Parkway and Highway 26 Monday morning.

The involved motorist stopped after hitting Smythe and cooperated with the law.

Meanwhile, Portola Parkway was shut down from Forge to the 261 toll road up to about 4:00 p.m. as police and emergency crews worked to investigate and clear the scene.
