Yadira Gonzalez Fatal Delano 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 155 and Zerker Road
Delano, California (May 14, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol has released the name of the victim who died following an alleged DUI collision on Highway 155 and Zerker Road in Delano at approximately 5:30 a.m., on May 13.
The accident happened when a Honda Civic operated by 26-year-old Reane Demery westbound on Highway 155 crossed into the eastbound lane. The Civic then collided head-on with a Chevrolet Cruz that was driven by 44-year-old Yadira Gonzalez Wednesday morning.
Due to the impact, the Honda engine was ejected into a nearby almond orchard.
Gonzalez died at Kern Medical Hospital in Bakersfield while undergoing treatment.
Demery sustained major injuries and was also rushed to Kern Medical Hospital for medication.
Police affirmed that Demery was intoxicated at the time of the collision. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The wreck resulted in the closure of the roadway for about four hours as police and emergency crews worked to investigate and clear the scene.
