39-Year-Old Bryan Cacy Killed in Petaluma DUI Bicycle Crash on Corona Road at Highway 101

Bicyclist Struck and Killed by DUI Driver on Corona Road at Highway 101 Overpass in Petaluma ID’d as Bryan Cacy

Petaluma, California (May 28, 2020) – 39-year-old Bryan Cacy, of Petaluma, has been identified as the bicyclist who died following a traffic accident on Corona Road, near Highway 101 overpass in Petaluma at approximately 9:28 a.m. May 26.

The accident began when a white Honda Accord operated by 65-year-old John Dethlefsen eastbound on Corona Road, approaching Highway 101 overpass crossed over the double yellow lines into the westbound lane. The Honda then struck Cacy in the process.

Dethlefsen, a Petaluma residence, did not stop after the Tuesday morning wreck. He reportedly continued driving the wrong way onto the overpass, where his Honda Accord crashed with a westbound Ford F-150.

Cacy died in the accident.

Police arrested Dethlefsen and booked him into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. His bail was set at $100,000.

The accident remains under investigation.
