Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10 in Ontario Kills 3

Man, Woman and Child Killed in Ontario Car Accident on Interstate 10 near Haven Avenue

Ontario, California (June 17, 2020) – A three-vehicle accident claimed the lives of a man, woman, and child Tuesday morning in Ontario, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The deadly collision occurred at around 9:30 a.m. June 16 in the number 3 lane of Interstate 10 Freeway, just west of Haven Avenue.

According to the authorities, a 2011 Volvo tractor hauling a semi-trailer was heading eastbound on Interstate 10 when, for unknown reasons, it slammed into the back of a 2002 Chrysler Voyager van that was stopped for traffic ahead. The Voyager was directly behind a 2015 Volvo tractor towing a semi-trailer.

The force of the impact pushed the Voyager into the rear trailer of the 2015 Volvo tractor, authorities said.

Three people in the Voyager were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims were described as a woman approximately 25 years old, a man approximately 25 years old, and a child about 7 years old.  Their identities have not been disclosed.

The driver of the 2011 Volvo tractor sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

The accident remains under investigation by the CHP.

According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary to clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.

What to Do At the Accident Scene

Nobody is ever prepared for an accident. However, knowing what to do in case you are involved in the accident is very crucial. The following steps will help you ensure your safety and the safety of others.

  1. Stay at the scene and don’t panic.

  1. Check for injuries and immediately call for an ambulance if anyone is hurt.

  1. Notify the police even if no one is injured. The police will examine the scene and document the accident. At this point, it is important to record accurate information. You can later request a police report.

  1. If the accident is minor, it is advisable to move the vehicles to the shoulder and turn on your vehicle’s hazard lights to ensure the safety of other motorists.

  1. Gather information about the other drivers involved in the accident. Also, talk to witnesses and get their information.

  1. If possible, take photos of the damage to your car and the surrounding area.

  1. Do not admit fault or discuss the accident with anyone. Do not sign any papers unless requested by the police.

  1. Do not leave the accident scene until the police have left.

After leaving the accident scene,

  1. Contact your insurance company as soon as possible.

  1. Get a copy of the accident report from the police.

  1. Get a property damage valuation.

  1. If you were injured in the accident, keep detailed notes of your injuries and track your medical treatment.
