1 Dies, 1 Hospitalized Following Multi-Vehicle Accident on 15 Freeway in San Diego

One Killed, One Injured in 15 Freeway Crash near Highway 52 in San Diego Thursday afternoon

San Diego, California (June 25, 2020) – One person was killed and another was injured Thursday afternoon in a traffic accident in San Diego, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.

At about 4:46 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the crash on southbound 15 Freeway under Highway 52.

The CHP said the accident involved about four or five vehicles. Two of the vehicles were described as a white 2009 Toyota Corolla and a Honda Accord.

Details of what led up the collision were not immediately provided.

Bystanders performed CPR on one person until medical help arrived.

As per the CHP report, one person died in the accident. The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of family.

One person in the Toyota was transported by AMR Medic 40 to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla in unknown condition.

The Honda, the Corolla and a third vehicle sustained damages and were removed from the crash site.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary to clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.

What to Do At the Accident Scene

Nobody is ever prepared for an accident. However, knowing what to do in case you are involved in the accident is very crucial. The following steps will help you ensure your safety and the safety of others.

  1. Stay at the scene and don’t panic.

  1. Notify the police even if no one is injured. The police will examine the scene and document the accident. At this point, it is important to record accurate information. You can later request a police report.

  1. If the accident is minor, it is advisable to move the vehicles to the shoulder and turn on your vehicle’s hazard lights to ensure the safety of other motorists.

  1. Gather information about the other drivers involved in the accident. Also, talk to witnesses and get their information.

  1. If possible, take photos of the damage to your car and the surrounding area.

  1. Do not admit fault or discuss the accident with anyone. Do not sign any papers unless requested by the police.

  1. Do not leave the accident scene until the police have left.

After leaving the accident scene,

  1. Contact your insurance company as soon as possible.

  1. Get a copy of the accident report from the police.

  1. Get a property damage valuation.

  1. If you were injured in the accident, keep detailed notes of your injuries and track your medical treatment.

  1. Contact a reputable personal injury attorney to protect your rights.

  1. Seek legal advice before you contact your insurer to discuss your car accident claim and compensation for your personal injuries. A qualified attorney will help you recover the maximum amount of damages.
