Man Hit, Killed by Vehicle on Interstate 805 in Legacy Park Area

Homeless Man Killed in Legacy Park Area Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 805 near S 43rd Street Off-Ramp

Legacy Park Area, California (April 30, 2020) – A homeless man died after being struck by a vehicle while he was attempting to cross a freeway Wednesday afternoon in the Legacy Park area of San Diego

The fatal pedestrian crash happened at around 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in the southbound lanes of Interstate 805, just north of the S. 43rd Street exit.

According to a witness, the man was running across the southbound lanes of the freeway when a Dodge Challenger hit him.

The man suffered major injures and died at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, it remains unknown whether or not the driver involved remained at or left the scene as those details were not declared in the report.

The accident remains under investigation.

A person on foot is no match for a vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death. “Due to the incredibly serious nature of these types of injuries, pedestrian accident cases often require special care in order to help ensure victims receive the full compensation they need for extensive medical bills, ongoing rehabilitation therapy, in-home care, lost past and future earnings, and numerous other economic and non-economic damages”, Said Arin Khodaverdian, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

Arin noted that pedestrians, in most instances, have the right-of-way when crossing a street or an intersection. According to Arin, to properly investigate a pedestrian crash and prove negligence, enough resources are required. “A skilled attorney has the resources and will help investigate the accident to determine the party at fault,” Arin said
