Authorities ID’d Lateishia Atkinson as Victim Killed after Exiting Disabled Car on 15 Freeway in Mountain Pass

Lateishia Atkinson Fatal Mountain Pass Pedestrian Accident on 15 Freeway near Nipton

Mountain Pass, California (April 20, 2020) – 32-year-old Lateishia Atkinson, of Las Vegas, died after she was struck by an SUV while walking into the southbound no. 2 lane of  the 15 Freeway at around 8:22 p.m. on April 17.

As per the California Highway Patrol report, Atkinson was driving her vehicle near Nipton Road when it became disabled on the right shoulder of the freeway prior to the collision.

Atkinson was declared dead at the scene at approximately 9:03 p.m. Friday.

The unidentified SUV motorist remained at the crash site and cooperated with the investigation.

The Mountain Pass accident remains under investigation.
