Authorities ID’d Guy Shearer as Victim Killed in Fresno Traffic Accident near Olive and Cedar Avenues

48-Year-Old Guy Shearer Killed in Fresno Crash near Olive and Cedar Avenues

Fresno, California (April 25, 2020) – Authorities have released the name of the motorist who died after his vehicle was struck by a suspect fleeing Fresno Police near Olive and Cedar avenues Thursday afternoon.

At about 3:30 p.m. April 23, 33-year-old Roger Harris was driving his red Mustang at the intersection of Fresno Street and Olive Avenue with a holstered gun sitting next to him. Police pulled over the car and noticed Harris had a gun. The suspect then sped off eastbound on Olive Avenue, and a police chase started.

The Mustang swerved from the eastbound lane into the path of oncoming traffic, where it crashed with an oncoming pickup truck.

The truck operator, 48-year-old Guy Shearer, died in the accident.

Authorities said Harris run away on foot after the mishap. He was later arrested and charged with felony DUI, resisting arrest, and being a felon in possession of a handgun.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
