Auburn Mayor Bill Kirby Dies in Plane Crash near Auburn Airport

Dr. Bill Kirby ID’d as Victim of Deadly Plane Crash near Cedar Mist Lane in Auburn

Placer County, California (April 19, 2020) – Authorities have identified the victim of Saturday morning’s plane crash near Auburn Municipal Airport as Auburn Mayor Dr. Bill Kirby.

The fatal crash took place a little after 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, near the 3800 block of Cedar Mist Lane, northwest of the Auburn Municipal Airport.

Authorities said a single-engine aircraft had just taken off when it crashed into a field near the airport and burst into flames. Two people were on board the plane.

Dr. Bill Kirby, who was the pilot, died at the scene and his unidentified passenger sustained minor injuries.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause of the accident.

According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary to clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Plane accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
