Otay Mesa, California (April 16, 2020) – One person died following a traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a vehicle in the Otay Mesa neighborhood of San Diego Wednesday night, according to authorities.

According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened at about 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, on the southbound side of Interstate 805 near State Route 905.

A motorcycle collided with a vehicle in the middle lanes of Interstate 805 Freeway, the CHP report states.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and pronounced one person dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

Debris from the crash was scattered across traffic lanes. The two right lanes of the freeway were shut down while the investigation and cleanup took place.

The accident remains under investigation.

“Far too many motorcycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists. Sadly, when this occurs, motorcyclists are the ones who tend to suffer the vast majority of injuries”, according to Arin Khodaverdian, Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group. Under California’s rule of comparative negligence, a victim may be able to collect compensation for injuries and other damages even if you were partly at fault for the accident.
