U.S. Postal Worker Hospitalized after National City Crash on Highland Avenue

U.S. Postal Service Delivery Man Injured in National City Car Accident on Highland Avenue

National City, California (September 12, 2019) – According to a police report, a U.S. Postal Services deliveryman was hospitalized Thursday afternoon with injuries he sustained in a traffic accident in National City.

The crash happened at around 1:00 p.m. in the 2907 block of Highland Avenue.

As per the police report, an elderly man was driving a sedan on Highland Avenue when he developed a seizure and slammed into a U.S. Postal Services truck.

The USPS worker who was retrieving a mail was pinned against his mail van. A bystander rushed to help back the car and freed the worker.

The USPS worker sustained major leg injuries and was taken by responding paramedics to UC San Diego Medical Center. However, his condition at this time remains unknown.

The driver of the sedan was also taken to a hospital for evaluation. Authorities said the driver has a history of seizures.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
