Scott Fliegel Identified as Victim Killed in Cabazon Crash on Interstate 10 at Main Street
Cabazon, California (September 4, 2019) – Scott Fliegel, 56, of Albuquerque, N.M, has been identified as the person who died in a traffic accident that occurred Tuesday morning in Cabazon.
The California Highway Patrol said the wreck happened at about 10:08 a.m. Tuesday, September 3 on eastbound Interstate 10, just east of Main Street.
According to the CHP, Fliegel was driving a Ford F-250 pickup on eastbound Interstate 10 when his vehicle collided with a Mercury Grand Marquis operated by a 51-year-old Torrance man. Both vehicles rolled off the roadway, and one of the cars ended up overturned on Railroad Avenue, just south of the freeway.
Fliegel and his passenger, a 43-year-old woman, were trapped in the Ford. Fliegel was pronounced dead at the scene, and the passenger was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with major injuries.
The Torrance man was transported to Gorgonio Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered factors in the accident.
Railroad Avenue was closed for at least an hour while the crews removed the overturned vehicles from the road.
No other details were given regarding the crash.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
