Long Beach Man Chasing Alleged Thief Hit and Killed by Car on Telegraph Road in Santa Fe Springs
Santa Fe Springs, California (September 18, 2019) – A Long Beach man died Wednesday morning when he was struck by a car in a street in Santa Fe Springs, a local news source reported.
As per the article, the deceased’s mother identified the victim as 21-year-old Ricky Munoz.
According to authorities, the accident took place at about 1:00 a.m. in the 11700 block of Telegraph Road.
Reportedly, Munoz was at Maggie’s Pub at the 11900 block of Telegraph Road when someone grabbed his hat during an altercation. His sister and friends were also at the pub.
Munoz chased the alleged thief across Telegraph Road and was struck by a car.
The victim sustained fatal injuries and died at the crash scene.
Officer John Scoggins of the Whittier Police Department said this was not a hit-and-run accident as was earlier reported. He added that the driver involved stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.
