37-Year-Old Man Killed in Lucerne Valley Pedestrian Accident on Old Woman Springs Road
Lucerne Valley, California (September 13, 2019) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday night in Lucerne Valley, according to a local news report.
The fatal pedestrian accident, which was reported at around 8:17 p.m. Thursday, September 12, happened on Old Woman Springs Road between Aliento Road and Midway Avenue.
Authorities said the pedestrian, a 37-year-old man, was walking in a southbound lane of Old Woman Springs Road when he was hit by a 1993 GMC Safari van driven by a 48-year-old Hesperia man, who was traveling southbound on Old Woman Springs Road.
The driver of the GMC stopped at the scene and called for assistance. A bystander told police that the driver thought he hit an animal and was unable to avoid the pedestrian.
The pedestrian sustained major injuries and died at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the accident. The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
