Officer Seriously Injured in 91 Freeway Crash in Riverside

Riverside Police Officer Hospitalized after Traffic Accident on 91 Freeway near Adams Street Saturday

Riverside, California (September 9, 2019) – According to a local news report, a Riverside Police Department officer was injured Saturday night in a traffic accident in Riverside.

The crash happened at an unspecified time Saturday, September 7 on the 91 Freeway near Adams Street.

As per the local news report, officers were responding to a report of a woman who had threatened to jump from a 91 Freeway overpass. Minutes after the law enforcement had talked the woman out of jumping, a Riverside Police vehicle was involved in a collision with a Caltrans truck in the westbound lanes of the freeway.

The Riverside officer sustained major injuries and was taken to a hospital. However, the name and current condition of the officer were not immediately disclosed.

The operator of the Caltrans truck was not injured in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is underway. Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the California Highway Patrol’s Riverside Area office.
