Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Byron Crash on Vasco Road

Rider Sustains Major Injuries in Byron Motorcycle Accident on Vasco Road near Camino Diablo

Byron, California (September 10, 2019) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured Tuesday morning in a traffic accident at an intersection in Byron, Contra Costa County, according to a local news report.

The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at around 4:59 a.m. at the intersection of  Vasco Road and Camino Diablo.

According to the CHP, a Nissan or Toyota sedan was traveling on the southbound side of the roadway when its driver reportedly made a U-turn in front of an oncoming Harley Davidson motorcycle. That caused the bike to T-bone the driver’s side of the sedan at the intersection.

The motorcyclist sustained major injuries and was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. However, the name and condition of the rider at this time were not immediately available.

A SigAlert was issued blocking Vasco Road between Camino Diablo and Walnut Boulevard as crews worked to clear the scene. Both vehicles were towed away from the crash site.

It was not mentioned whether or not the driver of the vehicle involved stopped after the collision and cooperated with the authorities’ investigation.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
