Motorcyclist Hospitalized after Collison with Fire Engine on Paradise Valley Road in La Presa

59-Year-Old Spring Valley Man Injured in La Presa Motorcycle Accident on Paradise Valley Road near Elkelton Boulevard

Spring Valley, California (September 7, 2019) – A motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a fire engine in La Presa Thursday night, a local news source reported.

The crash occurred shortly before 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5 on Paradise Valley Road near Elkelton Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 59-year-old Spring Valley man was riding a 2012 Harley-Davidson eastbound on Paradise Valley Road when the crew of the San Miguel Fire & Rescue vehicle who were responding to a medical emergency with their lights and siren activated made a right-hand turn in his path into an apartment complex.

For an unknown reason, the motorcyclist hit the side of the firetruck and slid underneath it. The rider was trapped underneath the firetruck and had to be extricated by firefighters.

The man sustained moderately serious leg trauma and was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital. His name and condition at this time were not disclosed.

No one aboard the firetruck was injured in the crash.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
