Maria Leon Leon Identified as Woman Killed in San Jose Pedestrian Accident at S. King Road and Lido Way

San Jose, California (September 23, 2019) – Authorities have identified the woman who was killed Sunday night in a hit-and-run accident in San Jose as Maria Leon Leon, 63, of San Jose.

The deadly crash, which was reported at around 7:44 p.m. Sunday, September 22, happened in the area of South King Road and Lido Way near Emma Prusch Farm Park.

Police said a dark blue or green truck, possibly an early 2000s model Ford Ranger with an extended cab was heading southbound on South King Road when for an unknown reason, it struck Leon Leon, who was crossing the road inside the crosswalk.

Leon Leo was found lying on the roadway by first responders. She was transported to the hospital, where her death was pronounced.

The driver of the truck fled the scene after the accident and was last seen turning west onto Story Road. The suspect is described as having a buzz cut and was clean-shaven besides a small mustache.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to call Detective Eliseo Malvideo at 408-277-4654 or a tip line at 408-947-STOP.

Pedestrian Accidents Claims

Pedestrian accidents are, in most cases, fatal or cause great bodily injury to the victims since the pedestrians do not have any protection when they are struck. Pedestrians often suffer injuries such as broken bones, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, skull fractures, internal organ damage, accidental amputation, among others. Such injuries result in temporary or permanent disability to the victims.

The serious nature of such injuries requires a victim or their loved ones to seek a personal injury or wrongful death attorney to fight for rightful compensation for medical bills, in-home care expenses, funeral expenses, as well as other financial and non-financial set-backs arising from the accident.
