Man in Wheelchair Dies After Being Struck By Pickup Truck on Jardine Street and South Atlantic Boulevard in Commerce
Commerce, California (September 14, 2019) – A male party in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a pickup in Commerce on Saturday morning, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department report.
The fatal collision happened at about 7:43 a.m. September 14, in a crosswalk in the area of South Atlantic Boulevard and Jardine Street.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said a man in his 50s was struck by a large pickup truck on the roadway for unknown reasons. Due to the impact, the man who was in his wheelchair was pinned underneath the pickup truck.
The victim was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the deceased remains unknown to this time.
It was not immediately mentioned whether or not the pickup driver stopped after the crash and cooperated with the officials’ investigation.
The Sheriff’s Department investigators believe that drugs or alcohol were not a factor at the time of the collision.
The investigation is underway.
