Laurie Trejo Seriously Injured in Hit-and-run Crash on Highway 58 in Santa Margarita

Laurie Trejo Sustains Major Injuries in Santa Margarita Motorcycle Accident on Highway 58 near Santa Margarita Cemetery

Santa Margarita, California (September 12, 2019) –  The motorcyclist who was seriously injured Wednesday morning in a hit-and-run accident in Santa Margarita has been identified as Laurie A. Trejo, 34.

The motorcycle crash happened at around 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, September 11 on Highway 58, just west of West Pozo Road.

According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, Bill W. Keulen Jr., 35, of Paso Robles was driving a 2004 Dodge dually flatbed truck eastbound past the Santa Margarita Cemetery at approximately 40 mph when he attempted to pass two big rigs and struck the left side of a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Trejo.

The force of the impact caused the motorcycle to overturn and ejected Trejo. She sustained major injuries and was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.

Keulen did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the scene. Police later located Keulen and questioned him. There were no reports of arrests in connection with the incident.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
