Kelly Blake ID’d as Woman Killed in San Joaquin River Delta Boat Crash near Ski Beach
San Joaquin County, California (September 16, 2019) – The woman who died in an accident involving two boats in the San Joaquin County River Delta has been identified as Kelly Blake, 24, of Discovery Bay, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department.
The boat accident occurred at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday, September 14 in the San Joaquin River Delta just south of the Woodward Island Ferry near Ski Beach. The area is known as a spot for waterskiing and partying.
Authorities said two boats collided in the Delta near Ski Beach. The boat suspected of hitting the other one fled the scene, but later that boat called 911 and was in touch with authorities.
Blake was pronounced dead at the scene. At least five people were taken to San Joaquin County hospitals for treatment of unspecified injuries. An unknown number of other people from the boat that took off were taken to a hospital in Contra Costa County.
The names and condition of the patients at this time were not disclosed.
It is undetermined if speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident.
