Flamingo Heights, California (September 10, 2019) –  The passenger who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident Monday night in Flamingo Heights has been identified as Jeanie Gilbert, 42, of Twentynine Palms.

The accident occurred at about 7:55 p.m. Monday, September 9 on Old Woman Springs Road at Eureka Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 1992 Chevrolet S10 truck driven by Laura Harris, 58, of Yucca Valley, was stopped in the southbound lane of Old Woman Springs Road at Eureka Road.

The CHP said Harris was waiting for northbound traffic to clear as she prepared to make a left turn onto Eureka Road. A car traveling behind her was able to avoid hitting the Chevrolet, but a 2000 Suzuki TL1000R motorcycle behind that vehicle could not.

The motorcycle slammed into the rear of the Chevrolet. The driver of the motorcycle, Brian Blythe, 42, of Joshua Tree, and his passenger, Gilbert, were ejected from the bike upon the impact and sustained major injuries.

Blythe and Gilbert were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center. Their current condition was not immediately released.

Neither drugs nor alcohol was suspected factors in the crash.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
