Matthew Griswold Arrested after DUI Auburn Motorcycle Accident on Lincoln Way

Auburn, California (September 10, 2019) – A man and his 10-year-old son were hospitalized after an alleged DUI wrong-way collision on Monday afternoon in the area of Auburn, according to authorities.

The crash happened at around 3:30 p.m. Monday, September 9, in the 100 block of Lincoln Way.

As per the CHP officials, Matthew J. Griswold was driving westbound on the road when he crossed over a double yellow line into oncoming traffic. Griswold’s car struck a motorcycle that was riding in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist identified only as a man and his 10-year-old son were riding in the bike at the time. The rider suffered critical injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. His son was also hospitalized as a precaution.

The name of the rider and his son were not immediately released.

Authorities determined Griswold to have been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. He was arrested and then booked into Placer County Jail and is held on a bail set of $50,000.
