Enrique Calderon-Mendez, Judith Hall Injured in DUI Crash on Highway 154 in Santa Barbara County

Enrique Calderon-Mendez, Judith Hall ID’d as 2 of 6 Victims Injured in Santa Barbara County Car Accident on Highway 154

Santa Barbara, California (September 16, 2019) – Authorities have identified two of the six people who were injured in an alleged DUI crash Saturday night in Santa Barbara County as Enrique Calderon-Mendez, 43,  and Judith Hall, 43, both of Santa Barbara.

The crash was reported at around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, September 14 on Highway 154, just east of Lake Cachuma.

According to a local news report, a BMW was heading eastbound on Highway 154 when for an unknown reason, it veered into the westbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Tacoma driven by Calderon-Mendez. A Jeep became involved in the crash and slammed into the rear of the Toyota.

Calderon-Mendez sustained minor injuries and one of his three passengers, now identified as Hall, was airlifted with major injuries.

Two other occupants of the Toyota sustained moderate injuries.  The male driver and the female passenger of the BMW both suffered major injuries. All six patients were taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Jeep was evaluated at the scene but did not need further aid. The driving of the BMW was arrested on suspicion of DUI, causing injuries

Highway 154 was closed as the investigation and cleanup took place.

The crash remains under investigation.
