Driver Seriously Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 in Palo Alto

Man in His 20s Hospitalized after Palo Alto Car Accident on Highway 101 near University Avenue

Palo Alto, California (September 7, 2019) – A driver was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Palo Alto Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck, which was reported just after 8:00 a.m., happened on northbound Highway 101 near University Avenue.

The CHP said a Ford Focus was traveling slowly in the far right lane of the northbound freeway when for as of yet to be determined reasons, the Focus was rear-ended by a Land Rover.

The Focus driver, a man in his 20s, sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital. The name and condition of the patient at this time were not immediately released.

The driver of the Land Rover was uninjured and stopped at the scene.

The CHP officers issued a SigAlert blocking the three right lanes of the northbound freeway. The lanes were expected to reopen by 9:00 a.m.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
