Dolores Gutierrez, Evelia Dominguez ID’d as 2 of 6 Victims Injured in Santa Barbara County Car Accident on Highway 154 near Lake Cachuma
Santa Barbara, California (September 16, 2019) –Two of the six people who were injured Saturday night in an alleged DUI crash in Santa Barbara County have been identified as Dolores Gutierrez, 60, and Evelia Dominguez, 48, both of Santa Barbara.
The multi-car accident, which was reported at around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, September 14, happened on Highway 154, just east of Lake Cachuma.
According to a local news report, a BMW was traveling eastbound on Highway 154 when for an unknown reason, it drifted into the westbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Tacoma. A Jeep then struck both the BMW and the Toyota.
Gutierrez and Dominguez, who were riding in the Toyota, sustained moderate injuries. The driver had minor injuries while another occupant of the Toyota was airlifted with major injuries.
The male driver and the female passenger of the BMW both suffered major injuries. All six victims were taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Jeep was evaluated at the scene but did not need further aid
As per the local news report, the driving of the BMW was arrested on suspicion of DUI, causing injuries
Highway 154 was closed as the investigation and cleanup took place.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
