Flamingo Heights, California (September 10, 2019) – Authorities have identified one of the two people who sustained major injuries in a traffic accident that happened Monday night in Flamingo Heights as Brian Blythe, 42, of Joshua Tree.

The crash took place at about 7:55 p.m. Monday, September 9 on Old Woman Springs Road at Eureka Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Laura Harris, 58, of Yucca Valley, had stopped her 1992 Chevrolet S10 truck in the southbound lane of Old Woman Springs Road at Eureka Road.

The CHP said Harris was waiting for northbound traffic to clear while she prepared to turn left onto Eureka Road. A vehicle traveling behind her was able to avoid hitting the Chevrolet, but a 2000 Suzuki TL1000R motorcycle behind that vehicle could not.

The motorcycle rear-ended the Chevrolet. The driver of the motorcycle, Blythe, and his 42-year-old passenger from Twentynine Palms, were ejected from the bike upon the impact and sustained major injuries. They were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center.
