2 Men Killed in Redding Car Accident on Interstate 5 near McCardle Flat Road
Redding, California (September 14, 2019) – According to the California Highway Patrol, two men died early Friday morning in a traffic collision involving a wrong-way driver in Redding.
The deadly wrong-way crash took place at around 2:33 a.m. Friday, September 13 on Interstate 5, just south of McCardle Flat Road.
Officials said a Dodge truck was heading southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 when for an unknown reason, the Dodge collided head-on with an oncoming Ford truck.
The two male occupants of the Ford were killed in the collision. Their names have not been disclosed pending notification of their relatives.
The driver and passenger in the Dodge were transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment of their unspecified injuries. The Dodge driver was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.
No other details were given regarding the accident.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
