13-Year-Old Girl Severely Hurt in Los Angeles Pedestrian Crash on Pico Boulevard and Alvarado Street
Los Angeles, California (September 6, 2019) – A 13-year-old girl was hit and injured by a hit-and-run driver in the area of Los Angeles, according to police.
The crash occurred at Pico Boulevard and Alvarado Street at around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 6.
Authorities said a 13-year-old girl was on her way to school and was walking at the junction in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a male driver for an unknown reason. The male driver was reportedly heading north on Alvarado and was crossing Pico Boulevard at the time.
Responding emergency crews attended to the girl who suffered serious injuries in the collision. She was rushed to a local hospital where she was listed in a stable condition.
The male driver involved stopped briefly at the crash site and walked up to the teen and apologized before fleeing northbound on Alvarado Street in his car.
Authorities described the suspect as a black man in his 30s, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and 270 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The man was last seen wearing a black cap, gray shirt, and black shoes. The involved vehicle was described as a gray Grand Cherokee Jeep which licenses plates from another state.
