70-Year-Old Woman Dies in Fatal Brentwood Crash on Highway 4 at Balfour Road
Brentwood, California (September 6, 2019) – According to a local news source, one person was killed Thursday afternoon in a traffic accident in Brentwood.
The deadly accident was reported just after noon Thursday, September 5 on eastbound Highway 4 at the westbound Balfour Road on-ramp.
According to reports, a semi-truck and a red Mercedes two-door sedan were involved in the crash.
Police along with California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene and found both vehicles on the right side of the on-ramp. The officers determined that the semi-truck was heading eastbound on Balfour when it made a left turn to enter the on-ramp and collided with the Mercedes.
A 70-year-old woman, who was the driver of the Mercedes, was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her name has not been released pending notification of family.
The driver of the truck, a 59-year-old man, stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities. It was undetermined if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
