1 Dead, 4 Hurt in Vallejo Crash at Redwood Street and Valle Vista Avenue

1 Killed, 4 Injured in Vallejo Car Accident at Redwood Street and Valle Vista Avenue

 Vallejo, California (September 1, 2019) – According to authorities, a person was killed and four others were hospitalized after a traffic accident that occurred at around 12:34 p.m. Saturday, August 31 near Redwood Street and Valle Vista Avenue in Vallejo.

The authorities said a black 2005 Nissan Altima was heading eastbound on Redwood Street when it attempted to make a left turn onto Valle Vista.

For unknown reason, the Altima traveled into the path of a 1999 gold Nissan Maxima that was traveling westbound on Redwood approaching Valle Vista.

A 33-year-old Vallejo woman who was a passenger in the black Nissan was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

Two other male passengers in the black Nissan were injured in the crash. One of the patients sustained a broken leg and the other had minor injuries.

The driver of the gold Nissan, a 23-year-old man, suffered minor injuries. The 23-year-old female passenger was not hurt.

Police said the driver of the black Nissan tried to flee but was arrested and taken into custody. The front passenger of the vehicle also attempted to get away on foot but was detained shortly after.

Authorities found drugs and alcohol inside the black Nissan. Authorities said the driver of the black Nissan did not have a valid license.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
