Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy Involved in Fillmore Car Crash

Pickup Runs Red Light, Broadsides Deputy on Highway 126 in Fillmore

Fillmore, California (October 21, 2019) – A Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy was on Sunday night broadsided by a pickup truck while on patrol in Fillmore.

Authorities said the collision occurred at around 9:05 p.m. on Highway 126 at the intersection of C Street.

Captain Eric Buschow said a deputy pulled out onto Highway 126 on a green light and was broadsided by a pickup truck that ran a red light.

Paramedics responded to the scene and evaluated both the deputy and the other driver for complaints of pain.

The patrol car acquired significant damage, and all airbags were deployed, according to Buschow.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
