Crash Involving Bicyclist and Vehicle Sends Girl to Hospital

Girl Seriously Injured in Sacramento Bicycle Crash near Mead and Sutterville Roads

Sacramento, California (October 22, 2019) – Authorities are investigating a major injury bicycle accident that occurred Tuesday morning in Sacramento sending a girl to the hospital.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, a bicycle and a car collided at around 7:40 a.m. near Mead and Sutterville roads.

A 12-year-old girl was riding a bicycle in the area when, for unknown reasons, was hit by a car.

The girl sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Authorities said the 17-year-old boy driving the vehicle stopped after the crash and cooperated with investigators.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Authorities closed Sutterville Road from South Land Park Drive to Freeport Boulevard following the accident. The closure is expected to remain until noon.
