9 Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Crash at West Sherman Way and De Soto Avenue in Canoga Park

9 Injured in Canoga Park Car Accident at West Sherman Way and De Soto Avenue

Canoga Park, California (October 21, 2019) – According to authorities, nine people were injured in a traffic accident that happened Sunday night in Canoga Park.

The crash happened at about 8:50 p.m.Sunday, October 20 in the 20900 block of West Sherman Way at De Soto Avenue.

The authorities said a red Kia Optima and another vehicle collided on the roadway. One of the vehicles struck a fire hydrant after the impact. Water flooded the WSS shoe store, causing the roof of the building to collapse.

A total of nine people were taken to hospitals. Four of the them had life-threatening injuries. Children may have been among the patients.

The female driver of the Optima was booked into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The Department of Building and Safety red-tagged the building as uninhabitable.

The crash remains under investigation.
