Woman Seriously Injured in Rancho Penasquitos Pedestrian Crash on Black Mountain Road and Carmel Mountain Road

San Diego, California (August 26, 2019) – According to police, a pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle at around 7:07 a.m. Sunday, August 25 in the 13700 block of Black Mountain Road and Carmel Mountain Road in the Rancho Penasquitos neighborhood, San Diego.

Authorities said a Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound on Black Mountain Road when it veered to the right and struck the curb. The car then continued onto the sidewalk and crashed into a fence before hitting a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 30s, sustained major injuries and was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital.

The Nissan driver did not stop to render aid and fled the scene, but was later contacted and arrested by officers.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
