Angel Gutierrez Killed in San Jose Car Accident on Ramp from Northbound U.S. Highway 101 to Northbound State Highway 85
San Jose, California (August 20, 2019) – A man was killed in a two-car accident in South San Jose. The tragic crash happened at about 4:18 p.m. Saturday, August 17 on the ramp from northbound U.S. Highway 101 to northbound state Highway 85, according to a local news source.
As per the report, Angel Almaraz Gutierrez, 20, of San Jose, was driving a 2014 Kia Forte behind a 2011 Lexus RX 350 when he lost control of his vehicle.
The Kia passed the gore separating Highway 101 from the Highway 85 ramp and slammed into a concrete divider. The Kai then hit the Lexus before coming to a rest facing south on the northbound ramp.
Gutierrez was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
A passenger in the Kia, a 44-year-old Santa Clara man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The people in the Lexus, a 6-year-old girl, a 35-year-old man and a 36-year-old man San Jose, were taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center with minor injuries.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
