Javier Espinoza Killed in Keyes Truck Accident at Keyes Road and Foote Road
Keyes, California (August 15, 2019) – Authorities have identified the elderly man who was killed Monday afternoon in a traffic crash at an intersection in Keyes as Javier Espinoza, 92, of Crows Landing.
The deadly accident took place at around 12:38 p.m. Monday, August 12 at the intersection of Keyes Road and Foote Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Espinoza was driving his 1994 Ford northbound on Foote Road when he ran a red light at Keyes Road and was broadsided by a 2015 Freightliner, which was being driven eastbound on Keyes Road by Cesar Jimenez, 32, of Ceres.
The big rig then sideswiped a 2013 Kenworth that was making a turn onto Foote Road.
Espinoza was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Jimenez and the other unidentified driver were uninjured in the crash.
Keyes Road was blocked in the area for several hours following the collision.
The crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
