Jack Guinn Killed in Motorcycle Accident on East Pleasant Valley Road in Camarillo

Jack Guinn ID’d as Motorcyclist Killed in Camarillo Three-Vehicle Crash on East Pleasant Valley Road near South Las Posas Road

Camarillo, California (August 30, 2019) – The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the motorcyclist who was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Wednesday, August 28, in Camarillo as Jack Guinn, 58, of Ventura.

The crash happened at about 7:45 a.m. on East Pleasant Valley Road near South Las Posas Road.

Authorities said a tractor-trailer, loaded with pallets of cardboard, was heading westbound on Pleasant Valley from Southfield Road while Guinn and a Volkswagen sedan were heading eastbound from Las Posas Road. Guinn then crossed over the center line and began passing the sedan, when he crashed head-on with the tractor-trailer. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to go out of control, cross into the eastbound lane and collide with the sedan, driven by a 28-year-old Oxnard woman.

The tractor-trailer overturned and its cardboard caught fire after it came to a rest on an agricultural field.

The sedan driver was trapped in her burning car.

The Ventura County Fire Department responded and freed the sedan driver. She was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Guinn was declared dead at the scene.

The tractor-trailer driver, a 68-year-old Oxnard man, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
