Injuries Reported after 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 1 in Carmel

Minor Injuries Sustained in Carmel Crash on Highway 1 near Big Creek Bridge

Carmel, California (August 30, 2019) – Minor injuries were sustained in a traffic crash that happened on Highway 1 near the Big Creek Bridge Monday morning in Carmel.

According to a local news source, a Toyota Tundra driven by an elderly man, was traveling northbound on Highway 1 when it veered into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a southbound van.

Due to the impact, both vehicles traveled northbound and went over the edge of the cliff, where they came to a rest. First responders found the two cars on the ground below the roadway south of Big Sur.

A third car traveling behind the van tried to pass the wreckage on the right shoulder and was sideswiped by another vehicle.

Authorities said the crash resulted in minor injuries. The names of the patients were not immediately disclosed.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
