Escolastica Andres ID’d as Reedley Woman Killed in Selma Train Collision near Golden State Boulevard and Highland Avenue
Selma, California (August 24, 2019) – The identity of the woman who was killed in a train collision on Wednesday, August 21, around 10:30 a.m. near Golden State Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Selma has been disclosed.
The California Highway Patrol identified the victim as Escolastica Andres, 64, of Reedley.
Officials said an SUV became stuck in the railroad crossing arms near the intersection and was struck by an oncoming Union Pacific train.
Andres was killed in the crash. The condition of the other occupant in the SUV was not disclosed.
The train crew was unhurt.
The Union Pacific is investigating the crash.
