Elias Navarro and Rene Rocha ID’d Victims Injured in Tulare County Fatal Crash on Orange Belt Drive near Avenue 184
Tulare County, California (August 20, 2019) – Elias Navarro, 61, and Rene Rocha, 20, of Terra Bella, have been identified as the victim injured in a fatal crash on Friday evening, August 16, in Tulare County, police said. The accident took place at around 6:00 p.m. south on Orange Belt Drive, north of the intersection at Avenue 184.
According to the police report, Navarro was driving a 2012 Dodge pickup truck behind a 2000 Saturn sedan south on Orange Belt Drive. Rocha was driving a 2014 Honda Civic south of the Avenue 184.
The driver of the Saturn stopped suddenly, and the Dodge rear-ended it. The force caused Saturn to rotate on its wheels and into the path of the Honda. The Saturn and Honda collided head-on.
63-year-old Porterville man, the driver of Saturn, and his passenger died at the scene of the crash.
Navarro was taken to Sierra View Medical Center in Porterville for a cut to his forehead. Rocha also sustained minor injuries in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
