Healdsburg Man Gary Begley Seriously Injured in Healdsburg Bicycle Accident on Westside Road
Healdsburg Bicycle Crash on Westside Road
Healdsburg, California (August 18, 2019) – A bicyclist was severely injured after being struck by a vehicle in Healdsburg. The accident happened at around 5:45 p.m. Thursday, August 15 on Westside Road, just east of West Dry Creek Road.
According to a California Highway Patrol report, the bicyclist, Gary Begley, 61, of Healdsburg, was riding on Westside Road when for an undetermined reason, he was struck by a vehicle.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and rendered aid to Begley who sustained severe injuries following the crash. He was then taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of several skull fractures.
Begley reportedly required surgery to remove blood from his brain, broken ribs that punctured his kidneys and a broken shoulder. His current condition was unknown.
The driver of the vehicle involved did not stop and fled the scene.
