Authorities Identify Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Highway 4 in Pittsburg

James Woods Killed in Pittsburg Motorcycle Crash on Highway 4 near Somersville Road

Pittsburg, California (August 27, 2019) – Authorities have identified the 61-year-old Antioch man who died in a motorcycle crash in Pittsburg.

The incident occurred at about 8 a.m. on an unspecified day, on westbound Highway 4 between the Somersville Road and Loveridge Road exits.

According to the California Highway Patrol, for unknown reasons, James Woods rear-ended a Toyota and was ejected onto the path of a big rig. The semi struck the rider who sustained fatal injuries.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities closed four lanes of the highway following the accident. The lanes re-opened about two hours after the incident.

CHP is investigating the crash.
