Authorities ID’s Man killed in Highway 101 Crash in Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa, California (August 16, 2019) – A man was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night in Santa Rosa. The fatal accident happened at about 11:00 p.m. Monday, August 12, on Highway 101 near Bicentennial Way.
Authorities said an Infiniti SUV driven by Juan Padilla-Lopez, 33, was traveling on the roadway when for unknown reasons it rear-ended a motorcycle.
Padilla-Lopez and his passenger, Ascari Farias Tapia, 24, of Santa Rosa, exited the car. Tapia was then hit by a passing Toyota SUV driven by Mercedes Allende, 18, of Ukiah.
Tapia was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Padilla-Lopez was arrested on suspicion of DUI and felony hit-and-run.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
