3 Injured in Oxnard Crash at Gonzales and Patterson Roads
Oxnard, California (August 26, 2019) – According to police, three people were injured in a traffic crash at around 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25 in the area of Gonzales and Patterson roads, just east of Oxnard High School in Oxnard.
Police said a 2005 Dodge Caravan was traveling eastbound on Gonzales Road while a specially constructed Volkswagen dune buggy was heading northbound on Patterson Road.
Both vehicles entered the intersection at the same time and one of them broadsided the other. One of the drivers possibly failed to stop at a red light at the Oxnard intersection.
The driver of the dune buggy, a 42-year-old Oxnard woman, was partially thrown from the vehicle upon the impact. She was transported to Ventura County Medical Center with critical injuries.
The driver of the Caravan, a 18-year-old Oxnard man, was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
A 40-year-old Oxnard man, who was riding in the dune buggy, was also hospitalized after moderate injuries.
Their names and conditions were not immediately disclosed.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
