2 Killed in Nicolaus Truck Crash on Highway 99
Nicolaus, California (August 22, 2019) – Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash at around 4:00 p.m. August 21 on Highway 99 in the area of Nicolaus, Sutter County, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
As per the report, a truck traveling on southbound lanes of Highway 99 when for an unknown reason, it drifted into the northbound lane and broadsided an SUV.
The truck continued southbound and veered off the right-hand shoulder, where it burst into flames.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been disclosed pending notification of their families.
There were no passengers in either vehicle at the time of the accident.
Authorities shut down the No. 2 lane on northbound Highway 99 as they investigated the accident.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
